We are the host for the North Shore Child Care Resource and Referral (CCRR) program – a provincial program that provides services, support and consultation to parents, child care providers, community partners, and the public on issues related to child care and the early years. CCRR mandated services include maintaining the database of all licensed and registered child care providers, assisting families with finding child care, training for child care providers and parents, assistance with applications for child care subsidy, providing resources, library and equipment loan, newsletters, and personalized consultation with a staff of early childhood professionals. This service is funded by the Province of B.C.
Other services include support to group child care centres through networking, consultation, training, library supports, and community planning. We also assist in providing statistical and practical information on the development of new child care spaces. These services are funded by the District of North Vancouver, City of North Vancouver, and the District of West Vancouver.
NSCR is the host of a number of community planning tables including WECAN (Welcome to the Early Childhood Access Network) and MCM (Middle Childhood Matters). These collaborative agency planning tables and their numerous subcommittees plan and implement activities and projects based on research that support families, address service gaps, and ensure minimal duplication with cost effective action. These tables are funded by the United Way and other project specific community grants.
